The O2 Arena, formerly the Millennium Dome, was originally used to house the Millennium Experience, a major exhibition celebrating the beginning of the third millennium. It has become one of the United Kingdom's most recognisable landmarks and now plays host to numerous sporting, live music and exhibition events.

 

VGI Security Solutions were appointed to provide project commissioning engineers and systems installation engineers at the O2 Arena. The project scope included state-of-the-art integrated CCTV and access control systems, as well as a sophisticated networked fire system.

 

This consisted of over 230 pan/tilt/zoom and static cameras, a number were programmed to automatically react and focus on specific targeted areas and movements, such as gates and turnstiles. This project also encompassed an access control system for over 450 doors throughout the complex.

 

VGI Security Solutions also set up the CCTV and access control fibre-optic backbone, interconnecting 15 communication rooms within the arena complex.
